Full Potential Arts is a specialised community arts organisation that works with people of all ages with disabilities. We aim to: -
- offer high quality opportunities for people to realise their full artistic potential in a safe, supported environment
- enable participants to explore their ideas, interests and concerns through the creative process and to develop skills to express them successfully in the media of their choosing
- promote independence and enable participants to have a sense of ownership and achievement in relation to the work they create
- whenever possible, support aspiring disabled artists who wish to develop their personal arts practice and move into education or paid employment in the arts.
Our Work
At present we run projects for adults with mental health difficulties. Extensive, funded outreach programmes are in place across Birmingham in both these areas of work. Weekly workshops and special projects are happening within day care and residential services, community venues and mainstream arts centres.
Arts & Health
Personal outcomes for participants are just as important to us as artistic ones and in fact we believe that the two things are directly linked.
Acquiring creative skills, developing self-esteem and finding a more confident voice through the artistic process can make a very significant contribution to an individual’s quality of life.
Our Artists
We have a long-established and diverse team of artists, practising in many different art forms. Our work encompasses drama, music, dance, fine art, crafts and multi-media.
The Full Potential Arts Studio
A studio space is available to individuals with mental health difficulties who wish to pursue their artwork independently. The studio is at the Friends Institute, an arts and community centre in Birmingham that also houses our office base.
